Melting Potes (friends) is a joint project hatched by three Maconnais producers, all close friends, to plant a half hectare of Savagnin in their respective vineyards. The venture came about during the Covid pandemic, when they were not allowed to see each other socially. The idea was that should the pandemic continue or ever happen again, they would at least be allowed to see each other professionally. Savagnin is not an allowed grape in the Mâcon appellation, but all three see it having excellent potential in their local terroir.
The nose is of elegant stone fruit, white floral notes and has a mineral edge. The palate is charged with bright fresh acidity, minerals and rounds out seductively with pears and cooked quince flavors.
