2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune “Aux Grands Liards Vieilles Vignes”: (also from 80+ year old vines). A more deeply pitched and more sauvage-infused nose mixes notes of dark currant, freshly turned earth and plenty of forest floor character. There is better density and volume to the succulent, round and punchy medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a moderately rustic and youthfully austere finale. This is very good for its level though a wine that will need at least a few years of cellaring before it’s entirely good to go. 89/2025+ -burghound
