We were incredibly lucky to have been offered a few tons of the exceptionally rare “Aligoté Doré” “variety” from the Colleri Vyd. in the nearby Tres Piños area of San Benito County.
Enchanting nose of lemon zest, white flowers and faint suggestion of green apple. The wine has a charming lightness and elegance, accentuated by a crisp acidity and long finish. Definitely “more-ish” in the British parlance. Bottled without filtration, this wine is the perfect accompaniment to sushi and milder fish (whitefish or petrale). I am certain that this wine will continue to evolve and improve over many years.
