The 2024 Chaminé Branco is the only white they produced in 2024, so it has grapes that would typically have gone to other wines like Cortes de Cima Branco, Lour-inho or Salino. 2024 was a cooler vintage—they are very happy with the reds—when the whites delivered low yields and didn’t posses the spark to make the other wines. This is a blend of 42% Sauvignon Blanc, 27% Alvarinho, 18% Loureiro and 13% Moscatel from their coastal vineyards. The full clusters were transported to Vidigueira in a refrigerated truck, then were pressed, and the juice fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and full malolactic. It matured with the fine lees for 14 months in stainless steel, a 2,000-liter Slovenian foudre, 500-liter French oak barrels and Wineglobe glass spheres, then was blended and kept in stainless steel for five months to complete two winters in the winery. It reminds me of some Sauvignon Blancs from Chile, with its pungent herbal notes of green beans and asparagus and some citrus hints. It reveals contained ripeness, 11.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 7.22 grams of acidity, with 4.7 grams of residual sugar. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2026.
