60% Tempranillo, 27% Garnacha, 13% Graciano and a kiss of Mourvèdre. 50% Whole Cluster. A blend of mostly Spanish varietals in a uniquely California wine celebrating lightness of being and minerality in a wine of rich texture and spice.
The subtle kiss of Mourvèdre adds a base note and emphasizes the dark tones. Cacao and spice are balanced by a full cherry fruit and smoothly refined tannin. The added depth means the 2020 punches above its weight and while delicious on its own, it remains our most versatile food wine and should be a mainstay on your weeknight table.
Vineyards: Rorick Heritage Vineyard, Shake Ridge Ranch, Heron Lake Vineyard
Winemaking: The grapes were partially de-stemmed into open top fermenters where the grapes were gently foot tread or punched down no more than once a day during a native yeast fermentation. The wine was aged for 11 months in a combination of 500L and 225L French oak barrels, including 10% new.
Tasting notes: Cacao, black cherry, sassafras, rock salt, star anise, deep umami and a mouth coating finish.
