2018 turns out to be a fabulous year for late-harvest Chenin in the Loire.
Since 2014, Chidaine has been producing wines grown in his vineyards in Vouvray under the Vin de France denomination. This because the powers that be in Vouvray do not want to give appellation status to wines not fermented and aged inside the appellation, even though the fruit is farmed and harvest there.
This is produced from four vineyards in Vouvray; Le Bouchet, L’Espagnole, La Chatterie et al & L’Homme.
Firmly supported by great acidity, this wine shows ripe quince, pineapple and lots of minerals, but since the residual sugar levels are lower than usual, it also shows great finesse and elegance. Try this with cheese!!!
