From vines over 50 years of age, this wine possesses medium dark color and red fruit aromatics. A nice mineral core keeps the wine fresh on the palate which leads into a fleshy middle with some mushroom and forest floor edges. Very long and complex, this is a very classy wine which drinks well now, but will reward 5-10 years of cellaring.
Vivid ruby-red. Expansive red and blue fruit, floral and succulent herb aromas show fine definition and take on suggestions of musky earth and game with air. In a wild style but not overtly funky, offering bitter cherry, candied lavender, fruitcake and smoked meat flavors sharpened by a peppery nuance. Dusty tannins emerge late on the floral-tinged finish, which hangs on with strong tenacity. 91 pts
