65+ year old vines. Off dry.
Red slate soils unique to Ürzig.
From Lippold’s prized Würzgarten parcel of Weltersberg, which historically was a Grand Cru.
Lippold labeled this wine?s 2015 predecessor ? which harbored a mere 19 grams of residual sugar ? as feinherb. But most German growers who now employ that term would also apply it to this very subtly sweet 2016. Intense scents and flavors of ripe strawberry and kiwi are laced with animatingly juicy fresh lime. The buoyant palate combines vivacity and brightness with subtle creaminess while introducing seductively wafting honeysuckle perfume. Mouthwatering salinity and smoky, stony accents complete this consummately refreshing and impeccably balanced epitome of Würzgarten virtues, a wine that combines cut, clarity and animation with textural allure and inner richness. 93pts
