Didier Dagueneau set the standard for sweet wines from the Jurançon appellation when he settled in the area and raised the bar for everyone.
His son Benjamin has raised the bar even higher, if that was possible.
15-20% residual sugar. Low alcohol. Massive acidity.
This wine, though impressive in its youth, really begins to shine after being in bottle for 7-8 years. Exotic fruit, candied quince and truffle aromatics burst from the glass. This wine is viscous to the point of being creamy with lively acidity that knows no bounds and provides a backbone for the wine that will carry it along gracefully for 40-50 years. The length and freshness are astounding with elegance that one would never expect from a wine with this level of ripeness.
