This wine’s name, Anno Primo, bears testament that this is the descendant of the first estate bottled wine sold under the Ghemme DOC. This is meant to be a classic rendition of this fine village.
Dark ruby red in color with expansive aromatics of violets, dried roses and amber-licorice notes that lead into a dry fully structured wine with ripe tannins, earth tinged berry fruit and plenty of minerals. Drink young an exuberant full-blown expression of this terroir or age for 5-10 years for a more nuanced version that will not disappoint.
The wine is aged in botti, large oak casks, for two years and then in bottle for one year before release. Three years of aging is required for Ghemme DOCG.
