Cialla is a monopole appellation, a recongized sub-zone of Collio Orientali del Friuli where Ronchi di Cialla is the only producer.
The 2016 Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso di Cialla smolders up with a dark, earthy, brooding blend of cedar shavings, incense, cocoa and dried black cherries. This is silken in character with depths of tart raspberry to balance as salty minerals and inner rose tones resonate toward the close. The 2016 leaves the palate stained in primary concentration and fine-grained tannins. A bump of residual acidity keeps the senses salivating for more. VINOUS 93 pts
