Cialla is a monopole appellation, a recongized sub-zone of Collio Orientali del Friuli where Ronchi di Cialla is the only producer.

Half of the grapes are late harvested at the end of October, normally with noble rot, and the other half are harvested even later at which point the grapes have dried slightly on the vine in the vineyard. Spontaneous fermentation of the must in French oak barrels. Aged in the same neutral barriques for at least 20 months followed by at least another 24 months in the bottle before release.

 

The 2017 Picolit Cialla is wonderfully fresh and lively in the glass, with an airy mix of chamomile and sweet sage complementing candied citrus
and white peach. It is silken in feel with stunning acidity and crisp mineral tones up front that add a crunchy feel to its opulent orchard fruits, as a
lemony concentration lends contrast toward the close. This tapers off with lovely length and spice, leaving nuances of ginger and clove to linger
long. The 2017 finishes at just 28 grams of residual sugar per liter. It’s incredibly fun to taste.  VINOUS  94pts
