100% Timorasso sourced from a 1 hectare vineyard in the Colli Tortonesi area
Derthona is the Piemontese name for Tortona, the area in Piedmont where Timorasso is traditionally grown. Clay and limestone soils combined with 35 year old vines make for a perfect combination. Hand-harvested grapes are then fermented and aged in large neutral French oak casks.
Very fine mineral, citrus and quince notes in the nose lead into a wine with great acidity and impressive length. The aromatics lean towards those of fine Riesling or Chenin. This will definitely benefit from aging, but is impressive now.
