Philippe Alliet, 2016 Chinon, L'Huisserie
From younger vines on the upper slopes near the village of Cravant, this is one of Alliet’s most prized vineyards that is just coming into its own. The soil is composed of clay, sand and some chalk, with very good drainage and excellent southern exposure. Aged in barrel with a small percentage of new oak, the fruit here is quite quite grapy and sweet. Although more primary than the other cuvees, but after opening up it shows good linear definition including the cool, fresh minerality that one finds in great Loire reds.
