This wine is the natural result of Laherte’s (father & son) naturally curious nature, spurred on by the inevitable temptation that global warming lays at the feet of Champagne’s wine growers. Once a true curiosity and only in rare, super ripe vintages, red Coteaux Champenois wines are becoming ever more tempting to produce, given that the dark red grapes used in sparkling Champagne production are now more predictably ripe year in and year out.
This is glimpse into the past before Dom Perignon supposedly brought the Méthode Champenoise to this region.
