100% Melon B.
French law does not allow the name of the varietal, the vintage nor the organic certification to appear on the label of “Vin de France” wine. Thus, Jo Landron has come up with a name adding “ix” to the name of the varietal, alluding to the proximity of Nantes and Muscadet to Brittany, the epicenter of historic Galois culture (Asterix & Obelix)…
20 year old organically grown vines. The crop is hand-harvested and the must is fermented using only the indigenous yeasts with no added sugar and no sulfur. The malo-lactic fermentation is thus allowed to take place and the wine is bottled unfiltered with no pumping whatsoever.
Broader than most wines of the region, it shows the creamy texture or lactic quality that results from the M/L fermentation. Quite focused with nice mineral notes and good acidity. This is wine like the Gauls would have made.
