The word in this area is that this walled vineyard, located in the village of Chardonnay, could very well be one of the first vineyards planted with this illustrious varietal by the monks of nearby Cluny in the 10-11th century. One stroll through this site is enough to confirm that it is very special. Perfectly sloped, with just the right balance of limestone and clay, the Chardonnay grape seems perfectly at home here.

Due to the devastating spring frosts, the 2021 version of this wine contains grapes from other parcels in this village, so it does not carry the single-vineyard designation.
