Le Fleq is a small, personal project started by Flequi Berruti, born & bred in Jerez, but adopted by Madrid. He has been involved in the world of Spanish wine for most of his life, but is now well known for being the heart & soul of La Tintorería Vinoteca and Alma Vinos Únicos, a shop and importer of fine wines in Madrid.
He has or is currently making wine in the Los Montes de Toledo, Ribera del Duero and Cebreros, but this new, more personal project, bearing his nickname “Le Fleq” was a long time coming and takes him back to his roots in the Sherry Triangle. Having access to top-quality organically farmed Palomino Fino grapes from the prime Viña La Zarzuela vineyard in the Pago Añina zone was a dream come true. These vines were planted over 30 years ago and crops are limited to 2kg per vine, less than half of the normal yield for sherry grapes destined for the large houses. The vineyards here benefit from more exposure to the poniente winds from the sea, thus producing lighter and more elegant wines.
