The fruit for this wine comes from some of the highest and steepest vineyards in Vergisson, one of the prime villages in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The 50+ year old vines (as seen in the photo) are in the prime of their lives, producing enough fruit to make it worth while, but never overproducing so as to make for dilute wines.
Barrel fermented and aged in 50% new oak, this is a wine that will stand up to many, far more expensive wines from further north in the Côte d’Or. The nose is of vanilla, baked apples and some tropical notes. The balance between rich fruit and bright acidity is very fine. It shows good grip and will be capable of aging 3-5 years.
