Domaine de Trévallon, 2017 Trévallon Rouge, IGP des Alpilles
50% Syrah, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
Whole cluster fermentation. Cuvaison of 3 weeks. Aged in large foudres for two years. Bottled unfiltered.
The unique northwest exposition of the vineyards combined with the absence of Grenache in the blend, have made for a stunning vintage that ranks at the very top of the many great efforts to come from this winery. Perfect balance of ripe fruit, tannins and bright acidity are the hallmark of this wine. Very rare is the vintage of any wine where we can truthfully say that the wine will drink well in its youth, but age gracefully for many years. This is that wine from that vintage. Having now tasted it several times, it is safe to say that this is no exageration.
