Domaine Courbet, 2016 Crémant du Jura, Perle
The grapes for this sparkler come from a single parcel, Les Chanterèzes, a western facing, cool exposure vineyard on the edge of the forest. A large percentage of the soil is of chalky limestone with very little exposed clay. It is a late ripening terroir, ideal for retaining high natural acidity, essential for producing fine crémant.
The dry vin clair is aged in neutral oak through the winter and bottled in late spring. Aged on its lees for 28 months, it is disgorged with no dosage three years after the grapes were harvested.
With notes of pears, peaches and citrus in the nose, this pure Chardonnay has a clean mineral snap showing crystalline freshness supporting a full mouth feel. Very long and fine on the palate.
