Domaine Camus-Bruchon, 2018 Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Reine Joly
90 pts-View from the Cellar-John Gilman
The domaine’s Cuvée Reine Joly is one of my favorite villages level bottlings in the commune and the 2018 version is really very successful this year. The bouquet delivers a fine constellation of red and black cherries, a touch of fruitcake, gamebird, coffee, dark soil tones and a classic topnote of young Savigny spice tones. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely structured, with impressive mid-palate depth, a bit of buried tannin on the backend and very good focus and grip on the nascently complex finish. Another first class AC. 2024-2050+.
A subtly spicy array is comprised by notes of plum, dark currant, dark raspberry and the hallmark Savigny-style earth. The sleek, supple and delicious flavors also possess a dusty but not raspy finale that is a bit better balanced.
