Historically, most or all red wine growers in Burgundy produced a Passetoutgrain in order to have an easy drinking, every day wine for themselves and their clients so that they would not rob the cradle and drink their age-worthy wines too young. Current times have seen most growers move towards a softer, easier, more fruit-forward style for all of their wines, and thus have replanted what Gamay they had with Pinot Noir. Confuron-Cotetidot is a traditional styled wine grower who’s bigger wines need time in the cellar to show their stuff, leaving room in the portfolio for this lovely, early drinking wine. Confuron’s blend of 50% Pinot Noir & 50% Gamay was an instant hit when we first started importing it with the 2003 vintage. Softer in style than their other wines, this still has a nice structure element holding together the pretty fruit that is hallmark of the vintage. Red fruit aromas (think cherries) make this wine an instant crowd pleaser.
