65+ year old vines. Off dry.
Red slate soils unique to Ürzig.
From his principal, prized sector of the Würzgarten (ambitiously characterized on Lippold back labels as (Grand Cru Weltersberg?), this vivacious and refreshing bottling features very discreet but efficacious residual sugar that beautifully supports generously juicy fresh apple, kiwi and lime. The scents are effusive, the midpalate impression polished but lively. The lingering finish invigorates with its piquant notes of apple seeds and lime zest, tugs at the salivary glands thanks to its salinity, and delivers a load of smoky, slaty stony matter amazingly abundant for a wine of such delicacy and animation. What a model of balance, transparency and mineral saturation! This is what I call “classic Kabinett.” -David Schildknecht, VINOUS
